AquaNote Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

AquaNote is an application designed to help aquarists manage freshwater, brackish and marine aquariums, offering organization, tracking, community, species catalog and other aquarium-related features.

2. Information we collect

AquaNote only collects the information necessary to provide its services.

2.1 Account information

When the user signs in, the following information may be collected:

• Display name;
• Email address;
• Profile photo (when provided by the authentication provider);
• Unique account identifier (UID).

This information is used exclusively to identify the user within the app and its services.

2.2 Information created by the user

Users may voluntarily register information such as:

• Aquariums;
• Fauna species kept;
• Plants;
• Corals;
• Equipment;
• Water tests;
• Maintenance records;
• Reminders;
• Photos;
• Notes;
• Data related to aquarium management.

This information belongs exclusively to the user.

2.3 Content posted in the Community

When using the AquaNote Community, the following may be stored:

• Posts;
• Photos;
• Comments;
• Likes;
• Reports;
• Interactions with other users.

This information is used exclusively for the operation of the Community.

2.4 Technical information

We may automatically collect technical information necessary for the app to function, including:

• app version;
• operating system;
• device model;
• technical identifiers required for authentication;
• crash logs (when available).

This information is never used to personally identify the user.

3. How we use your information

The information collected may be used to:

• identify the authenticated user;
• allow access to the Community;
• sync information across devices (when available);
• restore Premium purchases;
• perform cloud backups (when available);
• protect the Community against abuse;
• improve the user experience;
• fix bugs;
• develop new features.

We will never use your data to send unauthorized advertising.

4. Data stored locally

Most of the information registered in AquaNote remains stored only on the user's device.

This includes:

• aquariums;
• fauna;
• flora;
• equipment;
• history;
• local photos;
• settings.

This data is only sent to servers if the user uses features that depend on cloud storage.

5. Sharing of information

AquaNote does not sell, rent or trade users' personal information.

Data may only be shared:

• when necessary for the operation of contracted services;
• with infrastructure providers used by the app;
• to process purchases through official app stores;
• when required by law.

6. Third-party services

AquaNote may use third-party services, including:

• Firebase Authentication;
• Firebase Firestore;
• Firebase Storage;
• Firebase Cloud Messaging;
• Firebase Crashlytics;
• Google Play Billing;
• Apple In-App Purchases.

Each service has its own Privacy Policy.

7. AquaNote Community

When posting content in the Community, certain information becomes public to other users, including:

• display name;
• profile photo (when available);
• posts;
• comments;
• likes.

The user's email address will never be displayed publicly.

We reserve the right to remove content that violates our Terms of Use.

8. Security

We employ technical and organizational measures designed to protect the information stored.

Although we adopt security practices consistent with the current state of technology, no system can be considered absolutely secure.

For this reason, we recommend that users keep their device protected and use secure authentication methods.

9. User rights

Users may, at any time:

• access their information;
• update their data;
• remove posts;
• request account deletion;
• request deletion of online data;
• contact us for clarification.

Whenever possible, these requests may be made directly through the app.

10. Account deletion

Users may request deletion of their account.

Deletion may remove:

• profile;
• posts;
• comments;
• likes;
• other information linked to the account.

Some information may remain stored when required by legal obligation or necessary to preserve the integrity of the Community, and will be anonymized whenever possible.

Data stored exclusively on the device remains under the user's control.

11. Data retention

Data will be kept only for as long as necessary to:

• provide AquaNote's services;
• comply with legal obligations;
• ensure platform security;
• fulfill user requests.

When no longer necessary, data will be deleted or anonymized.

12. Children and teenagers

AquaNote is not intended for children under 13 without guardian supervision.

If an account is identified as created in violation of this policy or applicable law, we may restrict or delete the account.

13. Changes to this Policy

This Policy may be updated periodically.

Whenever relevant changes occur, the new version will be made available within the app and the update date will be revised.
